This week during library classes I promoted the school Science Fair that Ms. Appleby and Mrs. Kelliher are heading up this year. We watched some great videos from the "Sick Science!" and "WizKidScience" YouTube channels. Check out the webpage called "Science Fair" above on this website for more great Science Fair resources. As always, I told students they should share the webpage and videos with a parent and not access the Internet alone. Even if your child doesn't create a project, come on out and see some amazing science on Thursday, April 12 in the RMCS Gym.
Vermont students and schools are encouraged to participate in the annual Vermont Red Clover Book Award program. Students in grades K-4 listen to and vote for their favorite of ten picture books published in the previous year. We finished our voting last week and our votes have been sent to the Vermont Department of Libraries. Though the state winner for the Red Clover Award won't be known for another month, we have tabulated an RMCS winner from the votes of all our students (Fifth graders included!). Frankencrayon was our RMCS winner. Ada's Violin was 2nd and and Dragon Was Terrible was 3rd. Each year the Vermont Department of Libraries chooses ten picture books published in the previous year for Vermont elementary students to read and vote for their favorite as part of the "Red Clover Award" program. This year three of the ten books were biographies. Below are videos our students enjoyed about the real people in the books.
