Hi students, here are three chameleon videos. Of course I can't know for certain, but I am guessing that only two are real videos of chameleons changing color. I think that one of these three videos was created with special effects on a computer program to make the chameleons appear to change colors. What do you think?
Beautiful Footage: Chameleons Are Amazing
Posted by National Geographic Hi - Glad you found your way over my blog after listening to Earthrocks! Geyers by Sara Gilbert. Below are two videos I found on YouTube of geysers. Pretty amazing! I've never seen one in real life, but now I want to. I also linked the two websites listed on the last page of the book. Just click on the pictures to go to the site. Thinking of all you students!
The Kindergarteners and First Graders have started a unit on the difference between fiction and non-fiction. This week's topic was robots. We read fiction and non-fiction books about robots. We also watched some pretty cool videos of robots created at Boston Dynamics.
It's been a busy 2+ months in the library! The first quarter of the year in library classes there is a lot of time spent teaching students research skills as well as how to access and navigate online sources. Second grade through Fiffth graders listen to "book talks" to introduce students to books they might like to try. Kindergarten and 1st grade students learn about expectations in the library space. Kindergarteners listen to a different type of picture book each week in September and October. First graders are introduced to Early Chapter characters to encourage them to check out a book they can read themselves. This week 3rd - 5th grade students can begin Reading Challenges in Library class. Families can participate in our "The Dark Night Read Aloud" inititive which is new this year and runs from the end of Daylight Savings Time to Daylight Savings start up in early March. Most posts to come on our busy 2nd quarter.
I'm sad to see the year end. What a great year it's been. During the last two weeks of library class students can spend their usual "book browsing time" but choosing from a selection of games and activities. Mrs. Vincent's class asked me to take of slo-mo video of them destroying their Lincoln Log creations. They asked me to post the videos because they were "so satisfying." So here you go Mrs. Vincent's class.
