As a treat in our last class before Early Winter Break, students and I watched some Lucas the Spider videos after read aloud. So many kids wanted to share these with their parents that I posted them for you here. Enjoy!

The week of December 10th, Fourth and Fifth graders got creative coding on "Dance Party." Second and Third graders solved puzzles using code on Minecraft themed coding. I love to watching the students help each other, and share and celebrate their successes.
Mrs. Scott's 1st grade class brought their finished non-fiction writing to display in the library. Each classroom author was celebrated as Mrs. Scott read an excerpt from their book. The books will be on display to share with other students through the month of January.
I'm always interested to see what gets checked out after book talks during library classes. Below are some the mysteries borrowed today by Ms. Downing's 4th graders.
Last week 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders celebrated the "Hour of Code" by working coding puzzles from the code.org code studio curriculum. Students in these grades will have four lessons in library devoted to coding. Each student has a login so they can continue working on the code curriculum at home or during choice time in their classrooms.
This week our Fiction/Non-Fiction topic was on Outer Space. I had students prompt me to draw the pictures on the whiteboard (Mrs. Kelliher's class imagined a moon with earrings - Harry Potter and pigs in space, etc). The Chris Hadfield video from the Space Station was a big hit.
There's always a lot of books checked out after a "Book Talk." Today's fantasy book talk had students checking out both old and new favorites.
