It's been a busy 2+ months in the library! The first quarter of the year in library classes there is a lot of time spent teaching students research skills as well as how to access and navigate online sources. Second grade through Fiffth graders listen to "book talks" to introduce students to books they might like to try. Kindergarten and 1st grade students learn about expectations in the library space. Kindergarteners listen to a different type of picture book each week in September and October. First graders are introduced to Early Chapter characters to encourage them to check out a book they can read themselves. This week 3rd - 5th grade students can begin Reading Challenges in Library class. Families can participate in our "The Dark Night Read Aloud" inititive which is new this year and runs from the end of Daylight Savings Time to Daylight Savings start up in early March. Most posts to come on our busy 2nd quarter.
